Kate Duyn Cariati has taught a wide range of styles and levels since she started teaching yoga in New York City in 2004. Prior to teaching yoga Kate was a modern dancer, but fell deeply in love with the practice of yoga and will be forever grateful for Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi’s inspiration and guidance. It has been, and continues to be, a truly transformational and creative process.
In NYC, Kate was a well-loved instructor at the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center, Park Slope Yoga, Equinox, Crunch, Google, and Getty Images. In the fall of 2007, Kate assisted in the opening the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in San Francisco. Her Midnight Yoga event, featuring live music every Friday was a popular, playful and mystical ritual that deepened the sense of community among San Francisco yogis. Kate leads the Prenatal Yoga module for the 200-Hour Teacher Training program at Laughing Lotus Yoga SF, as well as in the YogaPoser teacher trainings in Venice, CA. In the fall of 2011 she and Claudia Fucigna co-taught the Pure Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training at the South Bay Equinox.
Since relocating to Los Angeles Kate has become well recognized for her approach to sequencing at yoga studios like Golden Bridge in Hollywood, Liberation in Mid-City, Goda Yoga in Culver City, Yogis Anonymous in Santa Monica, Yoga Loft and Equinox in Manhattan Beach. Her classes at Yogis Anonymous are streamed live on the web and she has acquired an international following through this wide reaching media exposure. In the corporate environment she currently teaches at the Google office in Venice and at Sony Pictures in Culver City. She loves to travel and leads annual retreats in places like Mendocino, Joshua Tree, Ojai, and Costa Rica.
Kate is also featured on Exercise.com as their yoga expert, demonstrating and instructing a library of 100 asanas as well as serving as the poster girl for the Yoga Journal’s iPhone Yoga Application. Her classes are known for their creative sequencing, free flow acro-athleticism and eclectic soundtracks. Kate has a knack for guiding students to new depths while maintaining a sense of humor. She seamlessly weaves yoga philosophy, mantra, pranayama, meditation and movement through asana. Last but certainly not least, she is the proud mother of her baby boy, Vincent Henry.
